“This is where women go to drop their cash, when in Athens.” Says my husband. as we came upon this long queue of a fashionable crowd.
I looked up and realized that the long queue, in fact led to this “Instagram” worthy cafe. The crowd is energetic, fashionable, young and selfie experts. The decor reminds me of a modern Victorian boudoir with an Art Deco flair. The concept is brilliant, an easy formula really. The ceiling adorned with hanging wisterias draws you in as the pink chairs cloaked in pink velvet welcomes you. I expected to enter a space where a gorgeous fragrant Dyptique candle would be burning, enhancing the experience. My initial thought is that they thoroughly considered about their target audience. They seem to specialize in that customer experience.
Once your curiosity is satisfied, the client experience is lacking. We went in on a slow day and early before the crowd. This place is truly beautiful and unique. And its purpose is clear. It relies on its beauty to draw a crowd and cater to the Instagram experience. Experienced staff and a focus on customer service would catapult this place into the world stage.
If you are looking for a place to take beautiful pictures, Elysian is it.
RECOMMENDATION: Don’t leave Athens with visiting.
